Hickstead: Belgians second in the Nations Cup
With Italia that won in Dublin and Germany that won in Hickstead, it was not possible for Belgium to prevent degradation. Yet, Belgium was second in Hickstead, a shared place with Ireland.

In the winning German team, Belgian Warmblood Goja ( Goya vd Begijnakker) jumped for the title with Janne-Friederike Meyer, for Belgium Catherine van Roosbroeck rode Gautcho da Quinta and Karel Cox rode Cor vd Wateringhoeve. For the Irish team Golden Hawk (Figo de Muze) jumped under Shane Breen.

The GP was won by the Irishman Billy Twomey (Llizziemary, v. Cabri d’Elle). The best Belgian Warmblood was Fleur de l’Aube under the sadle of Tim Stockdale. Fleur is an eleven year old daughter of Thunder vd Zuuthoeve x Alcatraz and was bred by Gommar Leys. Three out of six of the horses that are named here are descendants of Thunder vd Zuuthoeve.
